Position: Pickleball Manager

Job Summary: 

Conveniently located in the heart of Ottawa by the shores of the Rideau River, Rideau Sports Centre (RSC) offers adults and children the best facilities and programs in a variety of sports. The Pickleball Manager is a passionate and skilled leader who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of pickleball. This person will report to the Director of Tennis. The responsibilities of the Pickleball Manager include the daily management of the pickleball courts, scheduling, hiring, training staff, financials, payroll, modeling and managing memberships as well as ensuring all clients receive high-quality experience. As pickleball is a new service offered at RSC, it will require a complete setup along with ongoing care. This role will involve planning and developing pickleball programming and events and will promote the growth of client participation.  

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement pickleball programs, including leagues, court bookings, clinics, lessons and tournaments. 
  • Plan and promote pickleball events. 
  • Manage court reservations and optimize facility usage. 
  • Create and deliver a Pickleball program for all demographics. 
  • Hire and onboard pickleball coaches and provide a high level of management and support for your team. 
  • Ensure excellent customer service is provided to clients by addressing all players’ needs and resolving any issues that may occur.  
  • Work with our marketing team to develop strategies to promote our pickleball offerings on social media and other campaigns. 
  • Manage annual pickleball budgets, which will include overseeing expenses and revenue generation.  
  • Utilize our company’s software on a daily basis. 
  • Ensure court maintenance and cleanliness is always up to standard. 
  • Deliver high quality pickleball training for all levels of play. 
  • Always enforce pickleball and RSC rules to encourage fair and safe play. 

Qualifications: 

  • NCCP pickleball certified. Additional tennis, badminton or padel certifications are considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all pickleball rules, equipment, strategies and Pickleball Ontario’s long term player development.
  • Two or more years of experience in sports management, recreation, or related fields.
  • Two or more years of experience in customer service management.
  • Pickleball coaching experience is required.
  • Experience with managing budgets and modeling revenue plans.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.

Position: High Performance Coach
Start Date: As soon as possible

Category: Full-Time Employment, year-round.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Head of Competitive Development, the RSC High Performance coach will be an excellent motivator and experienced and certified competitive coach to junior players who is passionate about the
game of tennis. The selected candidate will work alongside the Head of Competitive Development and a team of Tennis Professionals to develop players in the junior competitive pathway – ages 6-18 who practice at
least 3 days per week, for 39 weeks.

Additionally, this candidate will be ready to coach some group programming outside of the junior competitive portfolio – specifically recreational junior for kids aged 5-8, recreational and competitive adult; and this candidate will be allocated suitable private lesson court time to “top-up” programming hours/service HP students in the competitive pathway.

Compensation
Base
• $50-55/hr programs rate (commensurate with certification and experience) applied to all RSC program hours
Plus
• Private lessons – a suitable number of court hours would be provided for you to teach private lessons.
• Tournaments – opportunities to run tournaments will be given all year-round.

Key On-Court Duties
– Deliver high quality group tennis training for HP junior players at times that are needed by the program which could include early mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends.
– Ensure that the HP programs are delivered in a manner consistent with the RSC brand and its core values which promote inclusivity, integrity, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun.
– Ensure that the training delivered is in line with the current Tennis Canada junior development standards and methodologies. This does not imply the exclusion of other methodologies and welcomes the incorporation of complimentary methodologies and activities which add value to the program.
– Be passionate about the growth and development of the program by bringing positive energy, encouragement, enthusiasm and engagement to every practice or lesson.
– Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized tennis court environment including ball carts, balls and teaching aids.
– Be available to travel with players to regional, provincial, and/or national tournaments, as necessary and agreed upon with the Head of Competitive Development.
– Maintain current certification with TPA and actively pursue continuing education opportunities.

Key Off-Court Duties
– Collaboratively contribute to planning and program design alongside Head of Competitive Development.
– Conduct annual program tryouts with Head of Competitive Development.
– Work with the Head of Competitive Development to develop, maintain and update player plans.
– Communicate with parents as necessary.

Education & Experience
– Completion of Grade 12, at minimum. University degree is desirable.
– Minimum Tennis Canada Coach 2 certification with active TPA membership. Tennis Canada Coach 3 is preferred.
– Minimum 5 years experience working with High Performance players in an academy setting.
– Track record of developing high performance players.
– Experience competing at an elite level – nationally or internationally – is an asset.

Competencies & Skills
– Playing level is minimum NTRP 5.5 or demonstrated experience working with high level players.
– Microsoft computer applications MSWord, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
– Demonstrated effective communication skills.
– Demonstrated passion for the game.

Position: Maintenance Worker

Summary:

We are looking for a reliable, skilled Maintenance Worker to perform essential upkeep tasks throughout our facility. In this position, you will be responsible for a wide variety of activities such as repairs and cleaning to ensure that our facilities are both tidy and functional. Being reliable and self-motivated with a keen eye for detail is essential in this job, as the ideal candidate will have significant work experience and solid technical knowledge. You should have the manual dexterity and physical stamina necessary for this work.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform minor fixes, such as repairing broken locks, damage to walls, broken furniture, etc
  • Install necessary appliances and equipment as needed.
  • Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify minor issues.
  • Maintain grounds, including garden and yard upkeep, trimming, edging, mowing lawn, collecting trash, etc.
  • Maintain outdoor tennis courts.
  • Perform daily pool test, and maintain pool area.
  • Perform necessary cleaning activities, such as dusting, mopping, trash removal, etc.
  • Perform emergency maintenance/housekeeping when accidents occur.
  • Collaborate with a team of workers and other professionals during renovations and facility expansions.
  • Report any needed repairs immediately to the Facilities Manager (such as leaky faucets or toilets, loose tile, broken windowpanes, missing nuts or screws, beds needing repair, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Available to work morning, evening or night shift.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a maintenance worker or other similar position, preferably in a corporate setting
  • Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools
  • Successful completion of on-site apprenticeship training required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • General passion for creative problem-solving
  • Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis.
  • Economical use of supplies, care and use of equipment.
  • Must be able to accomplish all responsibilities with little supervision.

Position: Personal Trainer

The Personal Trainer will be required to carry out various tasks, including assessments, and creating unique workout programs to suit your client’s needs. You have the ability to explain the exercises in a clear and efficient way while keeping safety in mind. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional Personal Training service to meet the diverse needs of new and existing clients, using strong interpersonal skills and engagement.
  • Conduct Personal Training sessions and offer suggestions, encouragement, and feedback throughout the session.
  • Track client progress through regular review of programming and consistent movement assessments.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and promote Rideau Sports Centre programs, products, and services to club members.
  • Stays current on Personal Training, nutrition, fitness strategies, and techniques.
  • Maintain and upgrade certifications to provide the highest level of service to clients.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education related to the health and fitness industry (Kinesiology or Physical Education) is required.
  • 1+ years related Personal Training experience is required.
  • 1+ years of sales experience as an asset.
  • Successful completion of a nationally recognized Personal Training Certification
  • Successful completion of additional health and nutrition certification programs is strongly preferred.
  • Current CPR is required and must be maintained through employment.

Summary:

The Bridge Public House is looking to add to its back-of-house team with a Cook in high energy and fast-paced environment. This position is a key member of our back-of-house team who has a “can-do” attitude, thrives in a busy environment, and loves food.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The line cook is responsible for the daily preparation of food items in the pantry, fry, and/or stations or other areas of the kitchen.
  • Prepares all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
  • Follows recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant.
  • Restocks all items as needed throughout the shift.
  • Has understanding and knowledge to properly use and maintain all equipment in the station.
  • Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.
  • Ensure quality and safety of food by performing standard and any additional sanitary measures including sweeping of the floors, cleaning of surfaces, as well as proper covering and storage of food items according to standards and procedures.
  • Work at an efficient and consistent pace.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • Completion of a three-year apprenticeship program for cooks or completion of college or other program in cooking required.
  • Minimum 1 year of cooking experience required.
  • Valid Food Handlers Certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lb.
  • Available to work flexible hours – evenings and weekends.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of methods and procedures for serving food, principles of sanitation, and principles of safe food handling is required.
  • Knowledge of food and catering trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation required.
  • Highly effective teamwork skills.
