RSC Launches Padel, the fastest growing racquet sport in the world and the only place to play in Ottawa!
Ottawa, May 19, 2022: The Rideau Sports Centre, in partnership with Daniel and Henric Alfredsson, is launching Padel Monday, May 23, 2022.
Daniel Alfredsson and Henric Alfredsson will play an exhibition match between 1:00pm – 2:00pm on Monday, May 23rd. A drop-in Padel Showcase runs Monday, May 23rd from 9:30am-12:30pm for those who wish to try it.
“Padel has exploded in popularity in Sweden and we are thrilled to bring it to Ottawa,” says former Ottawa Senators Captain Daniel Alfredsson. “Padel is more dynamic and easier to learn than tennis. I love tennis, but Padel is now my first choice for racquet sport.”

Courts can be booked by the hour starting Friday, May 20th at 8:00am for $55.00 per hour at Rideau Sports Centre. All equipment is included in the hourly rental. No memberships are required at RSC, it is a “pay-to-play” model and anyone can book the court.
Padel is a mix between tennis and squash. The sport is played with two teams of doubles on an enclosed court about half the size of a tennis court. The court is surrounded by glass, allowing players to play balls off the walls.
Padel is a sport which combines action with fun and social interaction. It is a great sport for players of all ages and skills, as it is quick and easy to pick up. Padel is not dominated by strength and therefore is a great game for men, women and youth to compete together.
